Cloud Walking (EP 10" Vinyl - Eco-Mix, 45 rpm)
Cloud Walking is Alice Boyd's second EP, inspired by a journey into Scotland’s Cairngorm mountains. In September 2023, Alice and eight other women retraced the footsteps of pioneering Scottish nature writer Nan Shepherd. Over four days, they hiked, camped and faced the elements, drawing inspiration and solace from the landscape and Shepherd’s writing.
Blending folk inspired vocal harmonies and chamber pop instrumentation with field recordings captured during the trip, Alice’s second EP captures the emotional highs and lows of being immersed in the mountains. These songs reflect not just the journey through the Cairngorms, but the deeper exploration of self that can happen when we step out of the everyday.
With contributions from a number of Alice’s musical collaborators, Cloud Walking is a reflection on connecting to landscape and the art of slowing down.
