  • Green Note 106 Parkway London NW1 7AN (map)

Colour Green is a new event that celebrates the music of acoustic, jazz and folk artists in London, prioritising women and non-binary musicians. Join us at the Green Note, for performances by the talented songstresses XATIVA, Alice Boyd and Delfina Cheb. Expect immersive and diverse singer-songwriter, jazz-fusion, and Latin folk sounds.

XATIVA

XATIVA is a Swedish-Ecuadorian singer-songwriter based in London. She is a classically trained vocalist who fuses together traditional and contemporary, Latin, and acoustic influences alongside elements from jazz and alternative R&B. She plays classical piano as well as Spanish guitar, having spent time living in Madrid, studying and playing with traditional flamenco musicians.

In 2020, she released her debut EP If I Am Falling. Recorded in Stockholm, she explores themes of love, isolation, and memory across four tracks. The project offers an intimate introduction to XATIVA’s hopeful, melancholic, and meditative sound.

In the summer of last year she shared her highly anticipated second EP Fly Away; a full and emotive creation in which XATIVA tells stories about confusing and seemingly contradictory experiences of love.

Drawing comparisons to the likes of Thom Yorke, early Rosalía, James Blake as well as household names such as Leonard Cohen and Astrud Gilberto, XATIVA has received tastemaker support from COLORS, Wonderland and The Line of Best Fit as well as BBC Radio London, Flex Fm and Threads

Alice Boyd

ALICE BOYD is a London/Bristol-based composer and sound artist. Her work uses the voice, field recordings and electronic textures to tell stories about the world around us.

Her debut single ‘Separation’ and upcoming EP ‘From The Understory’ is an exploration of our evolutionary journey and interconnectedness with the biosphere. Created as part of Alice’s artist residency at the Eden Project – the world’s largest indoor rainforest – this collection of songs brings together the human voice, electronic textures created with plants and field recordings to tell the story of civilisation at a tipping point.

Joining Alice to present music from her upcoming project are artists Dazey and zha, who together sing harmonies inspired by groups such as Dirty Projectors and Deep Throat Choir. The pieces will be woven together with interludes by writer Natasha Kaeda, whose storytelling will explore our relationship with the ecosystems we live in.

“Alice’s music brings together a unique combination of sweet vocal harmonies, throbbing electronic textures and sounds from the Rainforest Biome never before heard by humans. Together these beautifully reframe the urgency of the climate crisis into an opportunity for reconnection with nature.” – Sir Tim Smit KBE, Co-Founder of Eden Project and Executive Vice Chair of EPL
